Chaya G. Posner, Esq. is a Florida estate planning and elder law attorney and the founder of Chaya Posner Law, P.A., located in Davie, Florida. Since founding her practice in 2013, Ms. Posner has focused on helping individuals and families protect what matters most—their loved ones, their assets, their independence, and their long-term wishes.
Her practice focuses on estate planning, special needs planning, elder law, guardianship, probate, and related family-centered legal planning. She works with families to develop thoughtful legal plans that address not only the distribution of assets, but also the practical realities that can arise when a loved one becomes disabled, requires long-term care, receives government benefits, or is unable to make decisions independently.
A particularly distinctive aspect of Ms. Posner’s practice is her extensive background in occupational therapy and pediatric care. Before and alongside her legal career, she built a career working with children and families, including as the owner of Kids Aboard Therapy, a pediatric therapy practice providing school-based and home-based services. Her clinical experience included working with children with developmental, sensory, fine-motor, visual-perceptual, and other functional challenges, as well as collaborating with parents, teachers, and multidisciplinary professionals.
This combination of legal and clinical experience gives Ms. Posner a unique perspective when helping families with special needs planning and disability-related estate planning. She understands that effective planning is not simply about drafting documents—it is about understanding the individual, the family, available resources, government-benefit considerations, caregiving needs, and the family’s long-term goals.
A Family-Centered Perspective
Ms. Posner’s commitment to families is also deeply personal. She is the wife of a rabbi who serves a synagogue and the Jewish community in Davie, Florida, and she is a mother and grandmother. Her personal experiences as a wife, mother, grandmother, and active member of her community have strengthened her appreciation for the importance of planning for the needs of multiple generations.
She understands firsthand that families are not simply financial units. They are relationships, responsibilities, traditions, and hopes for the future. This perspective is particularly meaningful in her work with families who are planning for children with special needs, aging parents, vulnerable beneficiaries, or future generations.
Outside of her legal practice and community involvement, Ms. Posner enjoys reading and arts and crafts. These interests reflect the same appreciation for creativity, learning, and personal connection that she brings to her work with families.
Education and Legal Experience
Ms. Posner earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad Law Center, where she received a concentration in Health Law. During law school, she received a merit scholarship, served on Law Review, earned Book Awards for the highest grades in Torts and Contracts, and participated in the Pro Bono Honor Program.
She previously earned a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy, cum laude, from Florida International University, and a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy, magna cum laude, from Touro College.
Her legal experience includes representing clients before probate and family law judges, drafting wills and guardianship documents, handling probate matters, and addressing issues involving Social Security and disability. She also gained elder-law experience as a law clerk with Solkoff Legal, where she researched Florida elder law and probate matters, attended client consultations, and assisted with probate accounting.
Ms. Posner’s earlier professional career in occupational therapy included extensive work with children with disabilities and their families. She provided school-based and home-based therapy and collaborated with parents, teachers, and multidisciplinary teams.
Her volunteer and community involvement has included serving as a Guardian Ad Litem, volunteering with Legal Aid Service of Broward County, and serving as a co-director of the Friendship Circle of Davie, where she mentored volunteers working with children with special needs.
A Commitment to Protecting Families
At Chaya Posner Law, Ms. Posner believes that estate planning is about much more than deciding who receives an inheritance. It is about protecting people, preserving choices, preparing for uncertainty, and creating a plan that reflects a family’s values and priorities.
Her multidisciplinary background allows her to look at estate planning from both a legal and human perspective. Whether helping a young family establish a comprehensive estate plan, assisting parents planning for a child with special needs, guiding a family through guardianship or probate, or helping an older adult plan for the future, she strives to understand the people behind the legal documents.
For Ms. Posner, helping families plan for the future is both a professional responsibility and a personal calling. Her goal is to provide knowledgeable, compassionate, and practical legal guidance so that families can move forward with greater confidence and peace of mind.
